The Sculptor
Angela Aston James
Inspiration: 'the sensual contours found in all movement...'
Angela Aston James has lived in many places: Bermuda, UK, Canada, Australia, and New
Zealand.
Her inspiration is drawn from her passion for the sensual contours
found in all movement, colour, nature, animals, and people.
She studied sculpture in
Sydney under Cliff Axelsen, a former student and
instructor at the renowned Tom Bass School of Sculpture. Always passionate
about figure drawing, Angela’s move to sculpture was a natural
progression in exploring the sensuality of the female form. How better
to express this sensuality than in slow, rhythmic dancing, as captured by 'The
Dancer’.
Angela’s other passion has been landscaping
gardens, where curves feature strongly: “I never really planned the curves – they just seemed
instinctive. I suppose my gardens over the years have become giant
canvasses.”
Angela has placed drawings and sculptures in private homes in Australia, Bermuda, Canada and
New Zealand.
